Rebecka Hahnel-Peeters is an evolutionary psychologist with interdisciplinary training. Her research draws on an adaptationist perspectives using both quantitative and qualitative methodology to understand women's psychological adaptations against sexual exploitation.
Rebecka's primary research focus is women's threat management psychology, with a particular focus on context-dependent effects and individual differences. Her current work examines women's use of social allies as defenses against sexual victimization across different perpetrators (e.g., strangers compared to friends and romantic partners). She has published in scientific journals including Evolution and Human Behavior, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and Personality and Individual Differences.
Rebecka currently serves as the Feminist Evolutionary Psychology Society's Director of Research Collaboration. Her mission is to connect rising undergraduate and graduate students interested in psychological research with faculty mentors across the society.

Emily is doing her post-bacc with the E.V.E. Lab after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, where she completed her bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology. Her research interests primarily include women’s coping responses following trauma and their implications for psychological well-being, with particular attention to dissociative, avoidant, and other dysfunctional coping methods. She is additionally interested in how individuals’ self-employed coping strategies interact with clinical interventions in the aftermath of trauma and other post-traumatic outcomes among survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Outside of the lab, she enjoys live music, making jewelry, and collecting tchotchkes.
Ava is an undergraduate student at Indiana State University studying psychology with an assisted minor in art. She is a research assistant working in the E.V.E. Lab. Her research interests include trauma from an evolutionary perspective, women's coping and defenses against sexual assault, personality disorders, and correctional psychology. Ava has additional psychological interests including art therapy. Outside academia, Ava enjoys traveling, going to the movies, and drawing.
Ozzy is an undergraduate student in the E.V.E. Lab at Indiana State University. Their degree focuses on Psychology and Social Work. Ozzy's research interests include understudied disorders (e.g., sexual disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder); outcomes following traumatic events, addictions' effects on mental disorders, and women's psychology. Outside the lab, they enjoy a variety of different hobbies including painting--specifically diamond painting, gardening, gaming, live music, and thrifting/collecting antiques.
